Springbank | Longrow Red Shiraz | 11 years old | Six years in Bourbon Casks, five in fresh Shiraz Hogsheads | 53.7 % |
Situation: Ballygrant Inn Islay, see here
Nose: Red, red, red! Red fruits, strawberries, canned sugared cherries, underlying Springbank funk, some peat and some smoke but not much
Taste: Sweet fruity entry, malt, farmy hay, rubber/sulphuric, peat, smoke, salt
Finish: Salt, smoke, rubber, hints of chocolate and dark coffee,
Conclusion: I liked the Malbec one much better, this is good, but personally I think it seems a bit muddled and there is more of the Springbank funk than I like but if you like the Springbank funk, you’ll probably love this!
