Kilchoman | Original Cask Strength 2nd Edition | Bourbon Quartercasks | 6 Years old | 56.9% | NCF & NCA
Situation: Tasting at the distillery, after this
Nose: Ozone, tart fruits, pine nuts, woody, a bit of bitter peat and clear smoke,
Taste: Sweet malty entry, creamy mouthfeel but it turns quite aggressive then, spicy wood, fruity, vanilla, peat, malt, vanilla, smoke, chocolate
Finish: Dry spicy smoke! Salty, long and intense, a bit of young harshness on the finish, dark chocolate and mokka
Conclusion: I’m not a huge fan of quarter cask maturation, (at least for me) it brings some harshness to this dram and in combination with the six year old spirit makes this one quite aggressive, still it’s a nice dram but there are better ones for me
